Delivering a Consignment and recording an electronic POD
🔔 Note: this article is part of the CartonCloud Academy - TMS Mobile App Trail. Please ensure you have read Learn about transport app features first. 🎓
An essential feature of the transport mobile app is the ability to record electronic PODs (ePODs). An electronic POD is not much different from a paper POD; however, you can record the recipient’s signature on the mobile app, record what was delivered/wasn’t delivered, and all the information will be saved against the record. The POD can then be accessed via the CartonCloud web app and emailed to the customer. With this process, there is a limited chance of the POD being lost as all information is available electronically vs being on paper.
Coffee Warehousing and Distribution are currently using paper to record their PODs. Once the driver brings the paper POD back to the office, the admin staff must scan the document and email it to the customer. However, there have been numerous cases where the paper POD gets misplaced and never makes it back to the customer causing customer frustration and loss of important data. With CartonCloud and the mobile app, Coffee Warehousing and Distribution can electronically record the POD and make it available for the customer instantly (it can even be emailed to them directly) and eliminate manual and time-consuming tasks for their staff.
Benefits of using electronic PODs:
- Streamlines delivery process
- Maintains data integrity
- Reduced risk of data loss
- Reduction in manual and repetitive admin tasks
- Customers can access information instantly
- Information can be processed more efficiently
How to record a POD using the CartonCloud mobile app
Using the transport CartonCloud mobile app you can record an electronic POD upon delivering a Consignment. This POD will then be made available against the Consignment in the web app, accessible for the customer and admin users. You also can set up a customer notification so that once the Consignment has been marked as delivered, they will be notified of the delivery and receive the POD instantly.

What happens once the Consignment has been marked as delivered?
Once the Consignment has been marked as delivered, it will no longer appear on the mobile app. The status on the web app will be updated to ‘Delivered’, and the POD will be available for admin users and the customer. If you have the correct customer notifications set up. In that case, the customer and the Consignment recipient will receive an email once the Consignment has been delivered with a copy of the electronic POD. See Customer Notifications for more information.
Nick is excited to start using the mobile app to record electronic PODs. He is excited about the benefits it will bring to both his customers and the drivers.
