Stock Selection Method

When assigning Sale Order Products, this determines the automatic stock selection algorithm used to calculate the best stock to assign. Options are:

  • Warehouse location pick efficiency only.
  • FEFO (First Expiry First Out) - Closest expiry date is selected first.
  • FIFO (First In First Out) - Longest time since arrival is selected first.
  • LIFO (Last In First Out) - Shortest time since arrival is selected first.
Location Efficiency
Strict Stock Selection With Strict Stock Selection turned on the stock selection method is enforced even if it means splitting a full pallet or picking from a part pallet to build a full pallet.

Ignore Expiry Date during Stock Selection The expiry date will not be taken into consideration during stock selection.

Stock Sub-Selection Method

Once you have selected a Stock Selection Method you must then choose a Sub-Selection Method. This means that if after the system uses the stock selection method if multiple locations meet that method's requirement the sub-selection method will be used to further optimise how you select stock.

This logic is secondary to the Stock Selection method, and will never override it.

The available Stock Sub-Selection Methods:

  • Location Efficiency: The system will look at all the pallets available meeting the Stock Selection Method, then choose the location with the highest location efficiency first.
  • Minimise Storage: The system will look at all the pallets available meeting the Stock Selection Method, then choose the option which minimises the storage quantity by as much as possible, attempting to empty locations.
  • Minimise Picks: The system will look at all the pallets available meeting the Stock Selection Method, then choose the option which minimises the number of locations that Pickers will need to visit to pick the order.

See Stock Selection Methods for more information.

Split BOM on insufficient stock

With this setting turned on, if there is no built Bill of Materials products CartonCloud will assign stock to the Sale Order from the individual products rather than the built stock.

Qty Per BaseTo use the example above, converting from CTN to PLT you would enter the number 48 into this field so the system knows you have 48 cartons per pallet.
DescriptionThe product name that is displayed on Pick Slips. Often used if the Product Description of a specific Unit Of Measure differs significantly from the Product Name.
