Charge Subclasses (Fee Category)
Purpose
Charge Subclasses provide a way to create customised labels for Income and Adhoc Charges. This label (the Charge Subclass) is the name that will appear against the charge on the Customer's invoice.
Consignment Charge Subclasses are an exception to the above as in addition to Income and Adhoc Charges, Consignment Charge Subclasses can also be utilised when creating Transport Rates. The Consignment Charge Subclass will appear under the Fee Category drop-down menu. For more information see the Consignment Charge Subclasses section of the article.
Benefits:
- Visibility and transparency on the Customer's invoice for what the charge pertains to.
- Flexibility when creating charges.
Scope (what you can create a Charge Subclass for):
- Consignment
- Manifest
- Sale Order
- Purchase Order
- Storage Period
- Run Sheet
Use case Example - Consignment Income Charge ('Quote' Charge Subclass)
If you have quoted a movement for a customer, that is either a one-off movement or you are yet to sell them a contracted set of rates, you can add an Income Charge with a Charge Subclass called 'Quote' (you will first need to create a Charge Subclass called 'Quote').
This will allow you to apply the quoted price to the individual Consignment without having to set up a Rate Card that will later change or not be applicable.
In addition, it will be evident on the Customer's invoice that the quoted price was used for the movement.
