Scan Move 2.0 (Basic Move)

Table of Contents

Purpose

Scan Move 2.0 allows you to easily move stock from one location to another by either scanning or manually entering a label barcode. It provides details of every record being included in the move and also allows you to view all records that are currently recorded against a particular location or pallet.

In addition, there is a confirmation step when scanning the new location by either double scanning the new location barcode or selecting move on the screen to confirm the move.

Use cases/benefits

  • Provides visibility and details on what is being moved.
  • Can be used to check and confirm what stock is associated with the scanned or entered label barcode.

Increased accuracy when using the confirmation step (double scanning the new location barcode or selecting Move on the screen to confirm the move).

Directed Putaway

When you're putting stock away in the warehouse using the CartonCloud mobile app, Scan Move can now suggest a storage location for you based on your warehoue's putaway rules. This is called Directed Putaway, and it helps warehouse operators put stock away faster and more consistently, without needing to know the warehouse layout from memory.

Directed Putaway is currently available on Android only, and is being switched on for accounts gradually. If you don't see a Suggest option on Scan Move, contact CartonCloud Service Desk to check whether this has been enabled for your account.

  • On the Scan Move screen, tap Suggest to open the location recommendations list.
  • Review the suggested locations. Recommendations are based on your warehouse's putaway rules, including empty locations and locations already holding the same SKU.
  • Tap the location you want to use. The list closes and the Suggest field updates to show your chosen location.

Once you select a location, the recommendations list closes and the Suggest field updates to show your chosen location. The move is not submitted automatically — you still need to complete the move as you normally would.

Searching for a location

  • From the recommendations list, tap the search field.
  • Type part of the location code you're looking for.
  • The list updates as you type, showing matching locations.

Sorting and filtering recommendations

You can change how the recommendations list is ordered, or narrow it down to only empty locations:

  • Tap the sort control to choose between Recommended, A–Z, or Z–A ordering.
  • Tap Empty to filter the list to locations with no stock currently in them.

Your sort and filter choices are kept if you navigate away from the recommendations list and come back, so you don't need to reapply them each time.

If a recommendation can't be loaded: If CartonCloud can't load location recommendations — for example, due to a slow or dropped connection — you'll see a message and an option to retry. You can still complete your putaway manually by entering a location yourself.
