How do warehouse time zones work
The time zone selected for your warehouse will apply to all time and date stamps in the warehouse. This includes time and date stamps against orders, email notifications (the time they are sent) and reports.
If you have multiple warehouses in different time zones, you can operate each warehouse in its local time zone by changing the time zone in each warehouse.
How to change the warehouse time zone
To change the warehouse time zone, you will need to reach out to our Support Team by lodging a case at CartonCloud Help. To help ensure the change is a smooth process, the CartonCloud team will make the change for you.
Considerations when changing the time zone
Due to changing time zones being a large change to your account, the CartonCloud team will execute the change and help prepare you for the change. However, some key factors to note when changing time zones can be found below:
- The invoicing period you are currently in will either be slightly longer or shorter due to the change in time.
- The time your customers receive notifications will change to reflect the new time zone.
- Storage charges may need to be recalculated if the time zone change spans across a storage period when changing time zones. This will ensure all charges are allocated to the correct storage period.
- If you are using scheduled Bolts in your account and you only have one warehouse and, therefore, one time zone, the time the Bolts are triggered will reflect the new time zone you are using. However, if you have multiple warehouses and time zones, the scheduled Bolt will reflect the timezone of only one of the warehouses.
- On the first day, you change time zones, you may see once-per-day tasks (for example, daily email reports) occur twice that day. For example, if you are changing from the Sydney time zone to the Perth time zone and the time you switch crosses the task time (time the report will send), two tasks could occur on the same day. If the Consignment report is sent at 08:00 Sydney time daily, and the timezone change is made at 09:00 Sydney time (07:00 in Perth), a second Consignment daily report will occur on the same day shortly after 08:00 Perth time.
- If you use the repeating consignments feature and you change time zones before the repeated consignment creation is triggered and the next creation time is in the past relative to the new time zone, these consignments will be considered overdue (as they haven't been created yet). CartonCloud will create these overdue Consignments shortly after you have made the time zone switch.
- The delivered date shown against the Consignment will be reflective off the timezone it was delivered in not the warehouse time zone
Time zones on the mobile app
All user types on the warehouse mobile app will see the date and time relevant to the warehouse they are operating in. Drivers, on the other hand, will see the local time. This is useful when deliveries are being completed across time zones; this allows for better visibility and clarity for your organisation as to when the delivery was completed.
