Consignment Types - Warehouse Fulfilments

Purpose 

Warehouse Fulfilments are a Consignment Type available to CartonCloud accounts that have the WMS module enabled. While they require the WMS, they can also be used by customers who have both WMS and TMS enabled.  This type of Consignment enables the Pack Screen workflow. 

Benefits

  • Enhanced packing workflow: Using the Pack Screen creates a Warehouse Fulfilment and the associated packages. To use the Pack Screen, Sale Orders must be set up to generate Warehouse fulfilments.
  • Package-level data: Each package (Consignment Item) within a Warehouse Fulfilment contains dimensions and weight. 
  • Item-to-package tracking: CartonCloud records which item(s) were packed into which box, improving accuracy and traceability. 
  • Delivery tracking: Warehouse Fulfilments move through Shipped and Deliveed statuses, providing visibility after the order has left the warehouse. 

Warehouse Fulfilments Workflows

Enabling Warehouse Fulfilments allows for the Pack Screen workflow. 

The statuses a Warehouse Fulfilment progresses through:

  • Awaiting Sale Order Packing 
  • In Warehouse
  • Shipped
  • Delivered (Warehouse Fulfilment) 

How to enable Warehouse Fulfilments 

Warehouse Fulfilments are enabled from the Organisation Settings and can be further controlled at the Customer level (if you wish to only enable it for certain customers).

Organisation Settings

Enabling Warehouse Fulfilments requires two steps: configuring when consignments are automatically generated from Sale Orders, and assigning the Warehouse Fulfilments Only carrier to your customers.

Step 1 — Configure automatic consignment generation

This controls when a consignment is created from a Sale Order. It does not set the consignment type.

  • Navigate to More > Organisation Settings.
  • Click the Warehouse > General tab.
  • Scroll to Automatically Generate a Consignment from a Sale Order and select either:
    • Yes, when Sale Order is Picked Only — a consignment generates when a Sale Order is picked.
    • Yes, on Sale Order Import or Pick Completion — a consignment generates when a Sale Order is imported or upon pick completion.
  • Scroll down and click Save.

Step 2 — Assign the Warehouse Fulfilments Only carrier

Consignments created from Sale Orders are Delivery type by default. For a consignment to be created as a Warehouse Fulfilment, the carrier assigned to the customer must be set to Warehouse Fulfilments Only.

Note: Without this carrier assignment, consignments will generate from Sale Orders but will be Delivery type — not Warehouse Fulfilments. 

If you wish to turn this off for certain Customers, you will need to do so from the Customer Settings - Warehouse Management (Sale Order Tab)
